A studio built on Quiet Craft.

We're a two-person print studio making considered, archival art for the walls you actually live with. Every print is designed, numbered, signed and posted by the two of us — no shortcuts, no middlemen.

Little bit about us

HLP ART is the studio of Helen Proctor, creating original, mid-century-inspired art prints made with homes in mind. After more than 40 years as an artist, Helen makes colourful, abstract wall art designed to bring warmth and character to real rooms. Working alongside her son Jacob, she creates considered prints for the living room, bedroom, kitchen and beyond. This is art you'll want to live with, not just look at.

I.
— How it started

It started in mid-century Bournemouth.

Helen grew up in 1970s Bournemouth, surrounded by the shapes, colour and optimism of mid-century design. She trained at what is now Arts University Bournemouth, with no foundation year needed, where even her tutors couldn't quite place her unusual way of seeing the world.

Then life took over for many years. A regular job, a home in Windsor, a family. But the artist never really left. After a health setback and several major surgeries, it was during her recovery in 2022 that Helen's son encouraged her to pick up the work again. This time, her style felt fully at home in mid-century.

II.
— What we believe

Art made with homes in mind.

We don't want to add more noise to the world. We want to make mid-century-inspired prints that people choose once and keep for years. This is colourful, abstract wall art that genuinely belongs in the rooms you live in.

In practice that means considered subjects, a warm and confident use of colour, and original-feeling prints without a gallery price tag. Art should lift a home, not intimidate it.

It also means staying true to a look, whether mid-century, abstract, botanical or colour-led, rather than chasing a trend that would make us bigger without making the work better.

III.
— How we work

Every print, carefully crafted.

Each design begins with Helen and is finished with care in the studio. We print on [confirm: paper stock, e.g. 308gsm cotton rag] using [confirm: archival pigment inks], so the colour stays true on your wall for years to come.

Every print is checked by hand, [confirm: signed and numbered], packed in protective [confirm: acid-free] tissue, and posted [confirm: within 48 hours] of your order, carefully enough to arrive ready to hang or frame.

If something isn't right when it arrives, we make it right. No forms, no fuss. Just an email to Helen or Jacob.

  • Our values

What matters Most to us

— 01

Lasting.

These are prints made to stay with you. Chosen once and lived with for years, they hold their colour and character long after a trend has passed. Buy a piece today and it still feels right on your wall a lifetime from now.

— 02

Quality.

Beautiful art shouldn't be out of reach. We make pieces that feel considered and expensive to own, at a price that lets you fill your walls without a second thought. Real quality, honestly priced, for homes at every stage.

— 03

Colourful.

A wall of colour is what turns a house into a home. Our mid-century prints bring warmth, personality and a little joy into the rooms you live in, so the space finally feels like yours.
